This painting is of the yaezakura here in Washington, which are a mirror to my past... The last time there was a leap year, it was 2020 and I was living in Japan.Â
The common response to that is *OH MY GOSH YOU LIVED IN JAPAN* but it was some of the hardest years of my life. My ex was an alcoholic.Â
This painting, however, is in honor of the silver linings. At the time, I was an English teacher. I had the honor of celebrating one of my students birthday's and it was a very special one.... a leap year birthday! My class was some elderly ladies and she was the youngest in the class... proudly announced that she was turning 14! Hahaha đ It's a very good memory.Â
The cherry blossoms make me think of how even when life is at it's worst, it's never all bad and we aren't alone. This painting is a celebration of how much my life changed in 4 years. đ¸
If that resonates with you, the original and prints are available here in the store.Â
Thank you for reading and taking a moment,
If you are in a bad situation or you feel scared, please always know I'm a safe person you can talk to.
